Our Project |

| During 1992 and 1993 we had lots of positive experiences using holistic teaching and learning methods in a Force pilot project "Training for trainers in office and communication professions" at the Grundig Akademie. Those experiences were the starting point for the actual project. We wanted to combine this experience with experiences gained from delivering training programmes for various firms into a practical manual. |
| Lifelong learning is becoming more and more essential in a rapidly changing
environment. Nearly every individual will find this necessary at one point or other
throughout their working life. What can we - the teachers/trainers - do to support this ongoing process? How can we deliver training/educational material in an effective way? making it easier to learn, as well as making it enjoyable for the individuals concerned? Learning whilst being a necessity, must also be enjoyable if one does not want to risk alienating those involved. This is the message that we want to get across to trainers who have a major influence on the development of trainees, especially those of a certain age. The contents and form of our manual is created in such a way as to give the trainers the possibility of experiencing the trainees learning processes themselve. They have the possibility to walk a few miles in the trainees shoes. Our hope is that this does not only add to a rational understanding of psychological and biological processes but also to the motivation of both trainers and trainees. The manual offers help for supervisors who work with trainers of trainees, but it can be also useful for the trainers. There are not only metaphors, parables, meditation and some methods from superlearning with the help of music, but advice for the sensible and useful division of classrooms etc. Both types of learners are adressed, whether they tend to learn with more help from their rational right half of the brain or the creative left half. In every job, there is an element of fun - this motto will help trainees with the learning process. There are some unusual tasks like some relaxation techniques, and team as well as social abilities which are all strongly supported. Many tasks require teamwork to solve and reinforce those social skills. Communication and conflict abilities as well as self reflexion are also an integral part of our concept. Trainers and trainees are invited to create their own learning process in a creative and useful manner. Teaching is more than just saying things, it is a complex system of human relationship having a constant flow of information from the one side to the other and back again. |
