This means looking upon conflicts as opportunities as a means to introduce change and coping with and understanding ways to settling them .

 

The following methods have proven very useful in settling conflicts:

Listening actively

  • clarifying inquiries
  • summarizing and checking comprehension of statements
  • comprehensive repetition of statements

 

Confrontation without attacking someone

  • problems should be discussed directly, neither exaggerating nor minimizing them
  • don’t commit yourself too early
  • don’t accuse
  • work out and accept (for the time being) the different standpoints

 

Feedback

  • talk about your feelings, don’t assess attitudes
  • take up subliminal feelings
